How your Dry Dock hire booking works

Booking your Dry Dock and Slipway hire happens in two stages. Here’s what to expect.

Choosing your dates

Select the day you’d like your boat lifted in, and each day you’ll need the dock for, up to and including the day you’re lifted back out. You should be ready to move by 09:00 on both your haul-out and return-to-water days.

Paying for your booking

  1. Now, at booking: pay a £200 deposit to hold your dates. This is non-returnable and non-transferable if you cancel with less than 28 days’ notice.
  2. After you depart: we’ll send a final invoice covering haul out and return to water (£210 + VAT), £52 + VAT for each extra day, plus metered electricity (41p/unit) and heating (£3.18/hour). Your deposit is refunded, less any costs, within 14 days of leaving the dock.

Navigating through locks when hiring out our dayboat

When the Aylesbury Arm was built, there was no such thing as health and safety. Today, 200 years on, the exposed lock mechanisms are old, stiff and heavy to operate. Don’t be afraid, but be careful. This 6-minute video takes you safely up Lock 14.

Locks

If following our recommended route, you’ll be turning – and possibly mooring for a while – above lock 9 at Wilstone. Here’s a quick 1 minute video on the easiest way to do it.
