Blacking your Narrowboat

Blacking your boat and base plate is an essential part of proper maintenance. The blacking process involves applying a protective coating that prevents corrosion, prolongs the life of your boat, and maintains its appearance. It’s crucial to black your base plate, as it’s often the most vulnerable area and can lead to significant damage if neglected. Our unique slipway dry dock system allows easy access to the base plate, enabling a full and thorough blacking, which is vital for protecting your boat’s integrity and maintaining its value. In addition, this comprehensive access also allows for thorough surveys, ensuring that potential issues can be identified and addressed early on, providing further peace of mind for boat owners.

Narrowboat Surveys

Our Dry Dock provides the perfect environment for conducting thorough boat surveys. With our unique system, boats are gently lifted out of the water, allowing easy access to all areas, including the hull, base plate, and other vital components. This comprehensive accessibility enables surveyors to conduct a detailed inspection and identify potential issues that may go unnoticed. In addition, our experienced staff is on hand to assist with any specific requirements, ensuring a smooth and efficient survey process. By choosing our dry dock for your boat survey, you can rest assured that no stone will be left unturned in assessing the condition of your vessel.

Anodes

Anodes play a critical role in protecting your boat from electrolysis, a process that occurs when two dissimilar metals come into contact with an electrolyte, such as saltwater. This interaction creates an electrical current, causing corrosion and damage to your boat’s hull. Anodes are made from a more active metal, which corrodes faster than the hull itself, sacrificing itself to protect your boat. As anodes deteriorate over time, it’s essential to have them replaced periodically to ensure your boat remains well-protected

What Customers Are Saying

We blacked our boat here in July 2024 and cannot recommend this facility enough. Good space, modern facilities, access to fantastic kit to get the job done, and extremely helpful advice from experienced boaters. Going down the Arm was pretty easy as well and absolutely worth doing. Thank you to the team for the help! We hope to come back one day to winter moor here, that’s how much we recommend it, most friendly marina we’ve ever been to.

7 day free secure visitor moorings and use of all facilities, with friendly welcome from resident boaters. This is a fantastic marina to stay in, and I’m very grateful for having had the opportunity to do so.
Additionally the Aylesbury Arm is a beautiful canal, completely rural, which is amazing so close to London, and well worth a journey along it.
